July 2025 Wow what an experience we had at Mini Bar! In fact, if you know Lisboa, you know places are sometimes hard to find even though Apple or Google Maps tell you that you have arrived. This restaurant is located in Chiado and is nestled among many other restaurants, and being an engineer, I thought we should get off the metro at the Rossio station because it looked closer to Mini Bar than the recommended Biaxa-Chiado station. Well that started the evening off on the wrong foot so to speak. It was warm that evening, maybe 30 C, and now we had to climb multiple flights of stairs and my wife was not happy. Long story short, after a few wrong turns, we made it with no time to spare. Enough of that, let’s chat about the restaurant. Mini Bar is one of numerous restaurants under the Jose Avillez brand and was quite an experience. From the secret entrance door to the murals on the walls of this former church, the experience did not disappoint. However, the star of the show is the Chef’s Choice menu to share. Check it out. Every course was unique, weird and unbelievably delicious.
From the first course, the El Bulli olive just exploded flavor into your mouth. While we had beef tartare several times during this trip to Lisboa, this one paired with the truffled dijonaise and parmesan was rich and unlike any other we have tasted. We can’t wait to return! Saude!
